My 2018 F150 is doing the same thing, started at about 4000km. Sounds like metal on metal, similar when yous lose a brake pad. It shakes the whole truck. The dealer doesn't know what it is, go on telling me information technology must exist stones between the caliper and the rim. Ford needs to get to the bottom of this, I know of three other 2018'due south doing the same thing.

We have a 2016 F150. The dealer service guy says Ford are aware of the issue (shaft bearing). We took it in iii months ago and they greased it, that lasted around 7 weeks. Brought it back in, did it again. Went today and they are now replacing them (only told us the problem volition re-occur until Ford figure this out. In my listen, we take been sold a faulty vehicle. I am non happy with having to become to the service shop every eight weeks and drive a rental vehicle. I'm in shock that this has been a problem (apparently since 2011). Obviously the reply is for a sealed unit (deplorable I am not mechanical) but Ford take not come up with the goods?

Guru59PLX Accept you had any fix to this result even so. I merely took it to the dealer today and at the finish of the day they said they really didn't know what to practice. They greased something and cleaned off "excessive restriction grit" (bunch of BS) and it still did it pulling abroad.

Hey guys, this was definitely an issue with the IWE. The dealer ship had my truck a couple unlike times and didn't come up with a ready. After reading a few posts I took it in over again and let them take it for a calendar week. I told them I believe it has something to do with the IWE. It is exactly as you all depict it, grinding when going wearisome or turning and don't hear it at higher speeds. Also, it goes abroad when you lot shift into 4A or 4H 4L. They found that the vaccum line was loose on one side and information technology seems to accept fixed the outcome. We volition see.

2015 F150 with similar bug. Dealer said to was the rotors were warped. They have at present tried to correct three times and it comes and goes. Talked to a different rep at the dealer when leaving. He said it sounds like an mutual issue with the 4WD actuators. Ford is aware and will ready it just only if you push the issue. I take not had mine dorsum it yet to correct. Hub associates. My front correct went bad and the whole rim broke off. Only the caliper was holding the rotor. Changed it out 3 months ago. At present the left side is making the aforementioned noise.

I am having the same trouble with my 2018 F-150. Limited 4 X4 (2 month old w/3,100 miles) I notice the rotational grinding afterwards my vehicle sits for more than 6 hours. Looks similar I am in the same boat as you all with my 2016 F-150 Lariat (30K miles). I have taken it in twice at present. Offset time they said it was "normal" the second time they said it is was break dust and that they cleaned it - driving away the noise was immediately noticeable. Thinking of taking the issue to Facebook and calling them out! I had my front end driver IWE replaced final week and the problem is gone. Its covered nether drive train warrenty under 60k miles. From what I was told, the new IWE is an updated design and shouldn't happen over again. A few guys at the dealership said they've changed hundreds of these IWEs in the new models.

After the third visit to Ford the problem is gone!! Of course, it was the IWE like most are mentioning here. If Ford doesn't believe you lot, switch your truck into 4 wheel for them. It sounds similar different people might be having different problems only I can speak to ane. If you have 4wd and are getting a grinding racket conspicuously coming from effectually the wheels in 2wd it obviously is part of the IWE organization. nine times out of 10 information technology starts from a leak in one of the vacuum lines. Information technology is a very cheap fix if y'all tin narrow down where the leak is coming from. GuruYK2J4 : I just had the dealer tell me it was a scraped rotor and the brake pad was slightly aptitude.... got all new brakes and the rotor was "machined" to fix the "divet" that possible was left by a pebble getting in between the rotor and brake pad? My question is, later on your IWE was replaced, it is still good to become right? No issues since having it replaced?

I just recently started hearing a audio in my truck at 75mph+ Kinda strange, below 75 wasn't a problem. I found this video on YouTube and it demonstrates the sound near exactly. 2018 XLT - 9.5k miles, been doing information technology mostly cold and exiting a corner. Lasts during dispatch until y'all let off the gas. Noise sounds similar as if exhaust pipe falling off in front dragging into the pavement. Scares the crap out of occupants. Dealer says oestrus shield outcome. I drove off the lot and it did it again on my first turn onto the dealer's street. I enquire if anyone Google'd the result and they laughed at me!

I had my iwe replaced nine months ago on both sides of my 2014 f150. At present I get a noise and vibration like the truck is pushing the front tires confronting there volition. Happens whenever it feels like information technology. Almost ever happens when I get on the gas to enter the highway. Switch information technology to 4x4 and problem goes away. Could happen once more in a minute, not at all for the rest of the 1 hr trip, or 10 more times. I have asked a few people and nobody has a clue. It has had a new vacuum actuator twice and been vacuum tested and it says it'southward fine. No clue where to plough and don't have money to have to the dealer.

Dealership is fixing mine now afterward I insisted they Google the trouble and sentinel YouTube videos. Turns out there are three "TSB"s (service bulletins?) from Ford on the matter. Usually has to do with a vacuum problem and then they are replacing some vacuum switch most the hub on the front wheel(s?). Interesting video on YouTube goes into great particular on how a failing vacuum pressure makes the gears grind but non engage 4x4. Too has to do with IWE(?) thing in the hub every bit well, which is the 4x4 engaging gears, I think. Over my caput, but I hope to get my truck back tomorrow! :-)

It's the abs system that has the 3 piffling 8mm bolts behind the hub.. it's a spring/air assisted system if you have information technology autonomously you will notice a gear like ring on the hub and on the axle and on the actual abs module.. what happens is the abs module is unremarkably always supposed to exist locked into the gear side of the hub..and only when yous restriction difficult it'south supposed to switch over to the axle gear in society to help y'all brake but the problem with these trucks is that the abs module fails and the abs starts to go over to the axle side of the gear similar ring and that's when you hear the grinding dissonance!!! So as of at present I'1000 trying to find a fashion to gear up it!! I'll permit you guys knoww

i had the same problem on i 2013 and 1 2015 f150 4x4 well the client came in to my shop both mutter that they had a brake trouble well took wheels of done 4 wheel restriction job both trucks the side by side twenty-four hours simply different times like a month apart well they came bake with the same noise y'll are talking about well put the rotors dorsum on my hunter brake lay and found that on one side information technology cutting prefect and the other ruff not bad but but plenty you could encounter with a low-cal just non the on the lay. and then on i of the trucks i recut the rotors aforementioned thing so got the truck back in the shop put them back on the lay took 320 sand paper held on both sides till they where as smooth as a babys butt sent them downward the route and both was quiet every bit a mouse. both customers called and said well done. possibly that will help y'll out.

If it is from the wheels it is because the Motorcar-Locking Hub Actuator have lost their seal and collected a bunch of water. I just recently replaced them on my f-150 and information technology solved the problem. It was an easyish repair. This is what you lot need only find your correct model/make and year. Cheque the vacuum solenoid to see if water is leaking onto it. It is either on the right or left side nether the hood straight up against the firewall. Brand sure no water is draining on to it. Stock-still THE Problem FOR ME! Dealership replaced the vacuum thingy (switch?) that services the 4x4 engagement process and it has been perfect ever since. Way easier than all these other potential solutions. It'due south a vacuum problem that lets the 4x4 gears slip into place, only not all the style, which causes the grinding. New vacuum role and it's all good to go!

the same thing has been happening to us. I have had it into the dealer 4 times and now they tell me there is zippo wrong and the sound won't injure annihilation. Just fricken fix it, that's all I want. If you had a fix it wont last long, everything that has been mentioned has been done to my truck and within two months the sound is back. very frustrating

Everyone claims they have the same problem, just yous're actually all chatting about slightly similar unlike bug. To clear up the all the 13th generation F150 problems alot of yous new owners think y'all have, read into the Borg Warner variable torque on need (TOD) transfer case your truck came equipped with. Lariat and college model F150'south which are mostly all equipped with 4A are programed to appoint the IWE's even when the truck is in 2H for the first several miles after any common cold commencement. I take a similar problem with my 2016 4x4 with threescore,000 miles. My noise occurs around 35 - 40 mph besides as at boring speeds in A4. Dealers suspects it is the vacuum actuators for the front drive. Loss of vacuum causes the fractional or failed date of the front drive axles. Besides volition exist replacing the axle bearings as recommended when irresolute the front actuators. Let y'all know next calendar week how it turns out.

Republic of chad to a higher place, thanks for the update. No dealer has a inkling what to do near it. I had the brakes replaced and the IWE completely replaced due to this rubbing/grinding racket. information technology is a vacuum leak in the line leading to the 4wheel accuator behind the hub. The vacuum line gets a slight leak that only leaks when pulled tight when turning. It causes the 4wheel system to stay half engaged. The vacuum suction is what pulls the acuator out abroad from the hub to allow the truck to roll in ii wheel. Information technology will brand the sound y'all are talking almost, make information technology seem similar it shifts funny, and rob y'all of gas mileage. Simple gear up tho, if you are not replacing the accuator and hub assembly because you lot have immune it to happen to long, yous only just replace the vacuum lines. I did mine custom and made sure to allow more room and protective layers vesture needed to avert time to come leaks. Promise this helps.

Quick update - I have now had my truck in for the seventh time. Replaced the a solenoid, bank check valve, and vacuum line none of which have fixed the problem. They will now be replacing the bike bearings at a cost of approximately $700 a side. I have spoken to several techs and they have all confirmed that this is a known issues which is why I am now working with Ford Corporate to go things resolved.

I have 2017 f150 4x4. Mine is making the sound and it sounds like a muffler dragging in front commuter side. Recently just had the brakes and rotors put on my 2015 F-150 Lariat. The day the work was completed a whoop, whoop, whoop noise occurs when braking at slower speeds. When turning the vehicle at intersections a grinding metal to metal noise appears every so frequently. I've taken it to the dealership twice now. The get-go fourth dimension they diagnosed a bent rear bankroll plate. I insisted the noise was coming from the front of the truck. I just returned from the dealership today and was informed they believe it is my front wheel bearings. Reading through this thread, I am not convinced it is a wheel bearing issue. I take a brand new fully loaded (every option available) 2018 F150 Lariat with 2.7eco (built October 2018) Purchased in December. Starting time ride from the dealer with 65 miles on the odometer started hearing a thumping (thump-thump-thump) noise betwixt 25mph and 35mph. Dealer said flat spots on the tires. Truck has been in 4 times to dealer, replaced 1 tire and rotated the rest. Does not matter how much driving I do. Thumping racket is there. Notice information technology more when outside temp is below xxx. Also noise is louder when engaging the 4x4 vs keeping it in 2wd. Noise is coming from the front end. Truck merely broke three,000 miles. Dealer has no idea. Get-go claimed that it was a mutual / normal noise with the F150 and just continue driving that it will go away. It will exist back in soon.

I live in the UK and at the terminate of 2018 I bought a brand new three.2 Ranger with 16miles on the clock. At 460 miles, I besides started to feel the same noises you folks are describing at low speed braking. And so far, in the 6 weeks of owning the truck, it has spent 2 weeks in total at the dealership ramps, and still no fix. I have been told its brakes, drive shafts, transfer box, and latest, front machine hub locks not fully disengaging in 2H. A recent dealer update is, it could exist at the dealership for a farther 2 weeks before replacement parts get in from Federal republic of germany! This issue appears to be nowadays in the Ranger series as well!

I told the dealership that I did not want the truck back until it was ready the correct way. I take a 2013 Ford Expedition Limited EL with the 2H 4A 4H 4L Borg Warner Transfer case. I have had an Axle bearing type dissonance radiating from the Left Forepart since I bought it around 43k in 2018 (currently under 46k). The Noise is the same with 2H 4A 4H positions.I have replaced the Left Hub Associates three times (Right Side in one case), Cleaned and vacuum tested Both Front Actuators, Replaced Left Axle Shaft Associates, Installed New Rotors and Pads, and still the aforementioned Axle Bearing Noise that starts around ten mph and gets quiet around 70mph plus. (Dissonance was originally noticeable from peradventure 35 mph to 55 mph). I went to a privately-owned auto shop earlier today and they diagnosed this equally a Bad Front Differential. They are currently working up estimates to either repair or supercede. I wanted to Note the shop had the Expedition on a elevator and placed a Stethoscope in different areas to verify problem and also showed me a sample of the Front Differential Fluid which was Light Grey-Colored-- which they said was also a Bad Sign (Information technology did non look Metallicy). Also to Note, when on the Lift, even when in 2H, the front wheels would exist turning with the rear wheels. 2015 Lariat, same bearing thumping sound from front diff for me. Replaced IWE's more than once, new solenoid, new cheque valve and new vacuum lines. Replaced driver side wheel assembly (bearing and abs sensor). Changed front diff oil, no discoloring and looked adept. Noise still in that location. My abs low-cal has been coming on intermittently. Next I'm changing the passenger side cycle assembly (bearing and abs sensor). If that doesn't accept care of the problem I would have to say that I'll exist rebuilding the front diff. Very frustrating Ford. Please sole this problem.

Ford finally resolved my forepart end problem - hubs / IWEs / actuators / vacuum lines / check valves / tires, etc were replaced by the dealer. Then Ford sent in an engineer to diagnose the trouble. They supercede the complete differential axle assembly unit. Event resolved. My advice is to read up on your State's Lemon laws, and accept audio-videos of the effect. Null confronting the dealer techs only they make coin past turning in equally many jobs as possible. Good Luck.

So today afterward pretty much giving up on trying to self-diagnose the problem of the grinding noise, I reached out to a Ford mechanic on the app Just Answers. I explained that I take inverse out the brake pads (three times), rotors (twice), calipers on each front wheel, the hub assemblies, on the front end wheels, and I still have a grinding noise at low speeds. (less than 20mph). He pulled upwards a bulletin from Ford, that explained that the Planet Gear Assembly and the Rear Band could exist the culprit, so it is all transmission related. I was actually thinking this today. Gold star for me, but I was thinking I needed a transmission flush, so perhaps not a gilt star per say. So I am going to reach out to a transmission shop tomorrow and run into if they have knowledge of this. fords are known for having bad iwe gears in them ford knows this but has never made a recall for them this started in the late 80's if i retrieve right . i take a 2013 f150 4x4 it will do the same matter you are describing but if i put in 4 wheel information technology stops correct away. sounds like a grinding in it .mine is coming fromt he left front side. also they are known for the abs module going bad on them which can cause the same effect or the abs sensor will also crusade this . took mine several times to the dealer no answers couldnt effigy it out . got ahold of a mechanic thats worked on fords for 50 years and he told me nigh it . replaced the iwe gear on the left side and sure enough the problem is gone . ford doesnt want to brand a recall on this cause they would take recalls as far back to the 80' on trucks that are still on the road . lot of money to be lost there . so until they ever decide to set this problem information technology will remain fifty-fifty the new ones have the aforementioned problem not all but quite a few

Ok and then ive been working on the diag on the 4x4 staying engaged even subsequently i showtime it. I would like to throw my feel into this word. I bought a 2015 F150 4x4 make new in 2015.
